American Walnut is a figured hardwood with great low-mid response.

With a tighter grain than Maple, Walnut produces fewer high frequencies. Darker in tone, and looks, than Bubinga it has a richness, that while prominent, is not over stated, consistently producing full yet balanced tonal character whether tuned up or down. American Walnut snare shells are seven ply and feature four high gloss lacquer finishes.
